Cannabinoids act on cannabinoid receptors. There are three groups of cannabinoids:
– Phytocannabinoids: cannabis plant derivatives.
– Endocannabinoids: these are natural cannabinoids created by the body, which appear to exert a regulatory function within the body.
– Synthetic cannabinoids: these are cannabinoids really similar to endocannabinoids and phytocannabinoids, but are created in the laboratory. They are included in some pharmaceuticals such as nabilone (used for the treatment of anorexia and AIDS patients, treating severe nausea and vomiting produced by the treatment of chemotherapy).

The phytocannabinoids are found naturally in the cannabis plant. More than 100 natural cannabinoids have been detected in the Cannabis Sativa and Indica.
The cannabinoids found in greater proportion are cannabigerol (CBG), cannabicycloen (CBC), cannabidiol (CBD), cannabinol (CBN) and delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ9-THC), The THC is the main psychoactive compound.

It is a cannabinoid of the cannabis plant without psychotropic effect. It is the second most abundant compound in hemp. The importance of CBD is that it is not psychoactive, addictive or toxic.

Marijuana is the most common colloquial name for crushed dried leaves and flowers of the cannabis plant.
The main difference between the two is that marijuana contains high amounts of the psychoactive cannabinoid (THC), and hemp contains very low amounts of THC.

In general, you can find more cannabinoids in marijuana than in hemp, but it depends on the type of hemp and marijuana.

There are several ways to ingest CBD:

– Trans dermal applications: patches or topicals.
